The SDC team was engaged in participating actively in several events that took place across the city of Dehradun this World Environment Day. Here is a brief snapshot of the different programs where all we were present!
1. World Environment Day Celebration at CM’s Residence, Dehradun
At the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun, a tree-planting initiative titled “A Tree in Mother’s Name” and a message of “Plastic-Free Uttarakhand” were promoted. Jute bags and steel bottles were distributed, awards were presented, and 45 students, facilitated by SDC Foundation, participated in the program.
2. Citywide Plastic Waste Collection & Awareness Drive in Dehradun
The Dehradun Municipal Corporation, supported by SDC Foundation, conducted a multi-location plastic waste drive involving officials, sanitation workers, and citizens. Awareness activities were led by SDC Foundation’s team, engaging hundreds in meaningful conversations on plastic reduction under the “Plastic-Free Uttarakhand” campaign.
3. Celebration at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun
A grand event at WII Dehradun marked World Environment Day with a keynote by Anoop Nautiyal urging action on climate change. Nineteen individuals and institutions from across India were honored for environmental work, and SDC Foundation actively participated, emphasizing collaborative, nationwide efforts toward conservation.
4. World Environment Day Event at CSIR-IIP, Dehradun
CSIR-IIP hosted a major event focusing on plastic pollution, where SDC Foundation presented its work on Plastic Banks and its “Paryavaran Express.” The IIP Director praised these grassroots efforts and expressed interest in continued collaboration for environmental action.
