SDC Foundation inaugurated a new Plastic Bank at St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote plastic waste awareness and responsible disposal. The event aimed to educate students about the harmful impact of single-use plastic and encourage sustainable habits through practical engagement. The initiative is a step toward building an environmentally conscious generation equipped to tackle the growing plastic crisis.
During the event, students were introduced to the concept of a Plastic Bank — a collection point for clean and dry plastic waste, which will be recycled responsibly. Teachers and staff of St. Joseph’s Academy showed enthusiastic support, highlighting the importance of hands-on environmental education. The Foundation team also conducted an interactive awareness session, explaining the plastic life cycle and ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
The launch saw active participation from students who pledged to collect plastic waste from their homes and surroundings. SDC Foundation expressed gratitude to the school management for their collaboration and emphasized that such partnerships are crucial to creating a plastic-free future. The Plastic Bank at St. Joseph’s Academy will serve as a model for other schools to adopt and replicate across Dehradun.
