Dehradun, 1 October 2025: As part of the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, SDC Foundation, Dehradun, successfully conducted the “Swachhata Hi Seva – Swachhotsav Campaign” from 17 September to 2 October 2025. The campaign, organized in collaboration with 25 schools across Dehradun district, aimed to raise awareness about cleanliness, sustainability, and reducing plastic waste among students and the larger school community.
During the campaign period, schools undertook a range of engaging activities such as the collective cleanliness pledge, drawing and essay competitions, short video making on cleanliness, and plastic waste collection drives. On 27 September, several schools organized special awareness programs on cleanliness and plastic waste management, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Through these initiatives, approximately 160 kilograms of plastic waste was collectively collected by the schools. This waste was later transported to SDC Foundation’s segregation centre at Mehuwala, where it is being processed for recycling in an environmentally responsible manner.
Schools that actively took part in the campaign included Bhawani Balika Inter College, Sanatan Dharma Jhandaji, Sanatan Dharm Moti Bazar, Mahavir Jain Inter College, Sophia High School, SGRR Race Course, and several government primary and inter colleges across Dehradun.
Speaking about the initiative, Dinesh Semwal of SDC Foundation said that such school-level campaigns bring positive behavioural change among students, strengthening the vision of a cleaner India. Praveen Upreti added that SDC Foundation will continue these efforts to make Dehradun a city leading in single-use plastic reduction. Members Pyare Lal, Bittu, Subhash, Laxmi Prasad, and Pramod also played a key role in making the campaign a success.
