The Dehradun Literature Festival, held on 14, 15, and 16 November 2025 at Doon International School, became a vibrant platform celebrating creativity, learning, and collective responsibility. This year, the festival partnered with SDC Foundation to highlight the importance of environmental awareness through engaging and student-driven initiatives.
As part of the festival’s sustainability efforts, 30 students from Doon International School were selected as volunteers to support plastic waste management across the three-day event. Before beginning their duties, SDC Foundation organized a dedicated training session for these students. The session equipped them with essential knowledge on plastic waste segregation, reduction strategies, responsible disposal practices, and the harmful impacts of plastic pollution on the environment.
A key highlight of the festival was SDC Foundation’s interactive exhibit, the “Paryavaran Express.” This educational model focused on raising awareness about Air Quality Index (AQI) and noise pollution. Through simple explanations, visual displays, and interactive elements, the Paryavaran Express helped visitors—especially students—understand the sources, impacts, and solutions related to air and noise pollution. The exhibit successfully encouraged attendees to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives.
The collaboration between the Dehradun Literature Festival and SDC Foundation added a purposeful dimension to the 2025 edition, merging literature with environmental consciousness. By empowering young volunteers and educating visitors, the initiative strengthened the message that youth-led action is essential for building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
