Climate Education Workshops Empower Students in Dehradun Schools

January 22, 2026 |

SDC Foundation recently conducted Climate Education Workshop Programs. As part of this initiative, Workshops were conducted in three schools at the Bhawani Balika Inter College, New MD School and Ambawati Doon Valley Inter College in Dehradun during the month of January 2026. The workshops raised awareness among students about climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

Uttarakhand, being a sensitive Himalayan state, is facing serious environmental challenges such as floods, landslides, glacial retreat, loss of biodiversity, and water scarcity. Through these workshops, students were introduced to the basic concepts of climate change, its local impacts, and everyday environmental issues including plastic waste, e-waste, textile waste, and used cooking oil.

Each 45-minute interactive session included activities, group discussions, and games designed to encourage environmental sensitivity, responsibility, and active citizenship among students. This initiative marks a small yet vital step toward nurturing climate-aware and responsible young citizens, contributing to a sustainable future.
