Brahm Kamal Society Hosts Dialogue on Environment and Sustainable Development in Uttarakhand

November 7, 2025 |

The recent program hosted by Brahm Kamal Society on Uttarakhand’s environment and sustainable development on the even of the 25th anniversary of state formation brought together thought leaders, experts, and community representatives for an engaging discussion on the state’s ecological future. The event focused on the urgent need to balance development with environmental preservation in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, which is both ecologically fragile and vital to India’s natural heritage.

A key highlight of the program was a special session moderated by Anoop Nautiyal of  SDC Foundation.

During the session, speakers emphasized that environmental sustainability must be central to the state’s development roadmap. They discussed how rapid urbanization and increasing tourism are exerting pressure on natural resources and local infrastructure.

Anoop Nautiyal highlighted the importance of involving local communities, youth, and civil society organizations in creating practical, ground-level solutions. The program served as a reminder that Uttarakhand’s prosperity is deeply tied to the health of its environment. By fostering collaboration between policymakers, NGOs, and citizens, such dialogues pave the way for more resilient and sustainable growth.
