SDC Foundation has launched a Textile Collection and Recycling Campaign. This initiative is being implemented in a phased manner across 20 schools in Dehradun in collaboration with Anko Sourcing and Vaapsi (BTR Global). The campaign aims to raise awareness among students about the growing impact of textile waste and to encourage the adoption of sustainable and responsible lifestyles.
As part of the campaign, students are being educated on the responsible use of old clothes, reuse, repair, and the importance of recycling. Schools are hosting interactive awareness sessions, group discussions, and used-clothes collection drives, with active participation from students, teachers, and school staff.
The larger objectives with the campaign include focus on awareness with the goal to explain the concepts of sustainability and circular economy in textiles in a simple and engaging manner. Efforts are being made to provide practical knowledge on reducing consumption, reuse, repair, upcycling, and recycling. Students and staff are encouraged to bring old clothes and participate in sorting and segregation activities.
