SDC Foundation partnered with the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehradun, and the Food Safety & Drugs Department, Government of Uttarakhand to join hands in the Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) Mission. The RUCO Mission converts used cooking oil, typically a waste resource, into biodiesel, recognizing it as a valuable resource that can contribute to sustainable practices in the country. This was the second Tel Urja Chakram program organised jointly by the participating organisations.
Over the past years, SDC has established a robust supply chain involving Food Business Operators in the Doon Valley. The goal of the Tel Urja Chakram is to spread greater awareness and engage with Food Business Operators in other areas in the state of Uttarakhand, converting their used cooking oil into biodiesel. This exemplifies a circular economy approach with a focus on local sustainability.
