On the occasion of World Environment Day, a special awareness session on environmental protection and climate change was organised at the Dehradun Cantonment Auditorium for Indian Army personnel, officers, and their families.
Anoop Nautiyal participated as the Keynote Speaker and addressed the gathering on the growing environmental challenges facing society. He spoke about the importance of understanding the relationship between the environment, climate change, weather, and the atmosphere, and how changes in these systems are increasingly affecting everyday life.
During his address, he highlighted that climate change is no longer a distant or theoretical issue. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, extreme weather events, water stress, and increasing environmental degradation are visible challenges that require collective action. He emphasised that protecting the environment is not limited to planting trees but also includes responsible consumption, waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, and reducing dependence on single-use plastics.
He also highlighted the important role that the armed forces and their families can play in promoting environmental responsibility. Small, consistent actions within residential areas, cantonments, and communities can contribute significantly towards building a sustainable future.
The session encouraged participants to understand climate-related challenges and adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. The interaction also provided an opportunity to discuss how individual and collective efforts can contribute to environmental conservation.
The programme concluded with a message of collective responsibility and climate action, encouraging everyone to contribute towards creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for present and future generations.
