SDC Foundation, in collaboration with the Research Wing of the Forest Department, Vasant Vihar Society, and SGI Foundation, organized a program to mark the second anniversary of our Miyawaki Plantation in Vasant Vihar. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from environmentalists, local residents, students, and social workers. A total of 350 saplings from 10 native species were planted two years ago using the Miyawaki method, and the plantation has achieved an impressive survival rate of over 90 percent.
Speakers at the event, including Dhirendra Sharma, President of the Vasant Vihar Society, and municipal councilor Ankit Agarwal, praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of community participation in greening urban spaces. Educator Jaydeep Darshan Belwal emphasized the role such efforts play in environmental education for students. The event was further enriched by the presence of numerous community members and students from local schools, making it a vibrant celebration of collective environmental responsibility.
SDC founder Anoop Nautiyal expressed gratitude to all participants and reiterated the organization’s commitment to expanding the green initiative through public participation. The event concluded with a pledge to continue working towards a greener and healthier future for Dehradun.
